Membership of the TAFTIE network provides the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic with access to an enormous source of information and experience, which can be used in their further development and in the preparation of further programmes of applied research, experimental development and innovation. In addition, active involvement in the activities of the network and its working groups will enable the Agency to contribute to shaping the strategy of the future form of the European Research and Innovation Area and promoting the competitiveness of member countries.

For the TACR team, presidency of TAFTIE will mean they will need to prepare three expert meetings on the theme of Competence Centres in Prague in 2017, collaborate on both a national and European level and evaluate the innovative capacity of TAFTIE member countries. Another important event will be the organization of the annual conference on the theme of processing large amounts of data in the support of research and development. The closing Policy Forum in Brussels will be devoted to co-financing of regional, national and international programmes. In addition, TACR’s three-member presidency team will manage the work of the TAFTIE network throughout the year and fulfil the roles of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. For TACR, it is an opportunity to be in closer contact with European experts in the area of research, development and innovation from leading agencies and establish deeper collaboration with them.

“Involvement in the TAFTIE network allows us to share the best experiences and information from partner agencies, which support research, development and innovation in the same way we do. It gives me great pleasure to take over the imaginary sceptre of the presidency in the network and it will allow us to show how high a level Czech research is on”, said Peter Očko, Chairman of TACR.
