International Collaboration

International Collaboration

One of the main activities of TA CR is the development of international collaboration in applied research, experimental development and innovation and collaboration with similar agencies abroad.

In the framework of international bilateral collaboration TA CR signed in September 2012 a Memorandum of collaboration in the area of information exchange between TA CR and the National Science Council (NSC; now the Ministry of Science and Technology) of Taiwan. The memorandum is one of the incentives for the development of mutual technological collaboration and exchange of information between the two countries.

In addition, an agreement was reached to establish collaboration between TACR and the Japanese agency NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), the most important institution funding applied research and development especially in the areas of energy, environmental and industrial technologies in Japan. In October 2012, TA CR concluded a similar agreement with the Korea Energy Agency (formerly the New and Renewable Energy Center of Korea Energy Management Corporation), in 2014 an agreement with KITECH (Korea Institute for Industrial Technology) followed, and in December 2015 two memoranda of understanding with Korean partners KIAT (Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology) and KETEP (Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning) were concluded - these agreements create a framework for the future collaboration in joint support of applied research and experimental development projects.

Earlier, similar cooperation was formed with partners from Vietnam (SATI), Nigeria (NASENI), and Thailand (NRCT). During 2015, a series of agreements with partners from Chinese provinces (Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Sichuan) was concluded and allowed for the 2nd call for proposals for Czech-Chinese applied R&D collaboration under the DELTA programme to be launched.

A specific area of TA CR's international collaboration is the collaboration with the agencies from the V4 countries. The collaboration is focused mainly on the exchange of know-how and best practices in funding research, development and innovation.

TA CR is interested in collaborating with agencies and institutions developing international collaboration around the world for networking, determination of mutual priorities, exchange of know-how and promoting joint applied research projects to ensure the development of innovation and competitiveness of partners. TA CR is also developing contacts and collaboration with embassies of foreign countries in the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Czech embassies abroad to deepen awareness of the activities and programmes of TA CR and the situation in applied research, scientific development and innovation in the Czech Republic.

An important part of international collaboration is the development of partner relationships and the utilization of experience and examples of good practice within the European Network of Innovation Agencies TAFTIE. In the past, TA CR was also involved in the twinning (partnership) programme on pre-commercial procurement (PCP), which was organized by the initiative INNO-Partnering Forum - for better support for innovation in SMEs. This initiative consisted of leading European innovation agencies, which included VINNOVA (Sweden), TEKES (Finland), Technology Strategy Board (UK; now Innovate UK), FFG (Austria) and others.
