Topics

The scope of the 2023 Call is needs-driven research addressing three segments of non-fuel, non-food raw materials: metallic minerals; construction materials; industrial minerals.

The five main call topics, are:

  • Topic 1. Supply of raw materials from exploration and mining
  • Topic 2. Strengthening the Circular Economy
  • Topic 3. Processing, Production and ICT
  • Topic 4. Environmental assessment, climate and policy development for sustainability
  • Topic 5: Social sustainability in health, safety and public perception-cutting topics.
     

Proposals may address more than one topic and more than one of the sub-topics, subject to national/regional regulations

General conditions for application

The rules of this call for Czech applicants are based on the “EPSILON” programme. TA CR will support successful Czech subjects from The Resilience Recovery fund.

About era-min 3

ERA-MIN3, starting officially on December 1, 2020, is a global, innovative and flexible pan-European network of 26 European and non-European research funding organisations, aiming to continue strengthening the mineral raw materials community through the coordination of research and innovation programmes on non-fuel and non-food raw materials (metallic, construction, and industrial minerals). ERA-MIN3 builds on the experience of the H2020 ERA-MIN 2 (2016-2022) and FP7 ERA-NET ERA-MIN (2011-2015).

The EU Co-funded ERA-MIN Joint Call 2021 will be the first joint call of the ERA-NET Cofund ERA-MIN3, to be  officially launched on the 15th of January, 2021, and will count with an indicative budget of €19 Million.

ERA-MIN 3 has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement No. 101003575.

General conditions for application

This call for proposals is aimed at all actors in the raw materials value chain, including universities, research institutes, companies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and public authorities that can contribute to the objectives of ERA-MIN3 and who meet the eligibility criteria, as well as national/regional regulations.

A consortium must consist of at least three project partners eligible and requesting funding from the participating Funding Organisations of at least three different countries whereof at least two are an EU Member State or an Associated Country participating in the Call. Please note that not all participating Funding Organisations are EU Member States, namely Canada (Québec) and South Africa and the only EU Associated Country participating in the call is Turkey.

General conditions for application

  • Joint Call is for universities, research institutes, companies, NGOs and public authorities.
  • A consortium must consist of at least three project partners eligible and requesting funding from the participating Funding Organisations of at least two different countries whereof one is an EU Member State or an Associated Country (Turkey) participating in the Call.
  • Applicants requesting funding are obliged to check with their national/regional contact point about the relevant national/regional regulations prior to application.
  • Organisations from countries/regions not participating in the Call can be partners of the consortium on the condition that they provide evidence of the availability of their own funds.
  • Consortia involving both academic and industrial organisations are particularly encouraged.
  • Consortia covering the entire innovation chain from idea to end-user/market are considered positive as well as consortia with actors traditionally working in other industries, so that more ground-breaking innovations can be created through new approaches.

About ERA-MIN 2

ERA-MIN 2 is a Pan-European, global, innovative and flexible network of 21 public research and innovation funding organisations of EU countries and regions and non-EU countries that aims to develop the non-energy and non-agricultural raw materials sector: metallic, construction and industrial minerals. ERA-MIN 2 has successfully implemented two joint calls (2017 and 2018) for collaborative R&I projects and as a result a total of 28 transnational projects were supported with €21.1 million of public funding and €28.7 million total costs.
